Leave straight from the office on 24 Dec, fly to Tokyo and connect straight up to Sapporo (札幌): the Otaru canal, a ski day at Rusutsu, the penguin walk at Asahiyama Zoo and a night in Noboribetsu's hot springs. Fly back to Tokyo on 30 Dec ahead of the year-end shutdown, hear the bells at Zojoji on New Year's Eve, make the first shrine visit of the year at Meiji Jingu, watch the Imperial family's New Year greeting on 2 Jan, and be home in Singapore on the evening of 3 Jan for work on the 4th.
Why in and out through Tokyo: there is no nonstop from Singapore to Sapporo, every New Chitose flight connects once, and the earliest 3 Jan departure from Sapporo lands at 4 a.m. on the 4th, which is no way to start a working day. Fixing the long-haul at both ends and bridging Hokkaido with a 1h40 domestic flight gets you home by 8 p.m. The Narita connection: Scoot uses Terminal 1; Peach and Jetstar are in Terminal 3 (a covered walk away), ANA in Terminal 1. International-to-domestic means immigration, bags, customs and a fresh check-in, so allow 3 hours.
Nothing departing before 19:00 on 24 Dec works: Scoot's 17:35 to Haneda at S$509 is the cheapest but leaves during office hours, and Vietjet's 19:30 one-stop at S$535 is too tight a sprint from the office. Fares are from Google Flights on 5 Sep 2026; year-end prices only go up, so book the week you settle the route.
2. Day by Day
Weather at each stop
Daily forecasts appear automatically from 16 days before departure (Open-Meteo); use them to watch for heavy snow at New Chitose on 30 Dec and wind at Rusutsu. Late-December Sapporo runs around −3 °C by day and −8 °C at night; Tokyo 5–10 °C.
